Nicole D’Ambra coordinated our wedding of approximately 135 guests in July 2005.
She did an excellent job from the first time we met with her in January through the actual
event. Nicole is professional, patient, responsive, conscientious, detail-oriented, and,
perhaps most importantly, a pleasure to work with. Here are a few specific notes about
what we especially appreciated.
First, Nicole helped us to create the blend of tradition and modernity that we were
looking for. She was able to provide multiple suggestions for dealing with some of the
traditional aspects of the wedding and reception (e.g. bouquet toss, cake cutting, where to
seat the wedding party, etc.) while remaining open to anything we wanted. We got the
sense that Nicole would be equally at ease working with Berkeley progressives (like us)
and couples with more traditional values.
Second, she was patient with us when we were vague about how to structure our wedding
day, and took the bits of information we gave her (e.g. ceremony is at 4, and I’d like to
get my hair done sometime that morning) to develop a perfect timeline that made sense.
She did this just at the time when we were beginning to feel overwhelmed, and it helped
enormously.
Third, a couple of guests expressed surprise that we had a coordinator at all. Yet others
commented that this was the most “on time” wedding they had ever been at. Nicole and
her assistant were “invisible” to guests, but clearly behind the scenes making everything
flow smoothly. Throughout the evening, we were untroubled by any problems or
concerns, and we can only imagine that Nicole was expertly dealing with issues as they
arose, leaving us to enjoy the evening with our guests.
We didn’t realize how valuable a wedding coordinator is, and now we can’t imagine how
we could have done it without Nicole. We recommend her without hesitation, and we’d
hire her again, except that we hope this is the only wedding we’ll have! If you are
